Updates & Announcements

What a great First Week of Summer Band! I can’t believe how much we were able to learn over this past week and our first Full Band Rehearsal together on Wednesday will probably be something I remember for the rest of my life! We have a great season ahead of us if you keep pushing and working as hard as you are right now. This is a BIG week for us which will culminate in our first Public Performance on Saturday at HEB and then again at CSHS for Hot Dog Howdy. Monday morning we will begin learning Drill for our Competition Show. Be sure to check the Screen in the Band Hall for Instructions before you head out to the field. Last but not least, we have kicked off the March-A-Thon Fundraiser and I feel like it is off to a rocky start. We need to make sure that everyone is participating correctly to help set us up for being able to raise the funds necessary to do all the important events we would like to do this year. It is Very important that you click on the link from Mr. Nimocks further down in this Newsletter. Thank you all for everything you do to make this the Mighty Cougar Band!

This Saturday – HEB Performance and Hot Dog Howdy

This is our very first Public Performance for the year and is so important.

There are two parts to it: 1) First, we will perform a bunch of Stand Tunes and Cadences for the crowds in the HEB Tower Point Parking Lot from 8:30 to about 10:30. We will have two school buses that will be able to shuttle students and instruments to and from HEB Tower Point that morning. We are also asking that if you can, just meet us at HEB on your own with your instrument. Especially those of you that have smaller equipment.

Part 2) Secondly that morning, we will come back from HEB and head back to CSHS to set up for our Hot Dog Howdy Performance in the CSHS Basketball Gym. This Performance will start at Noon and will be followed by eating lots of Hot Dogs! All families are invited to see our first display of our 2019 Marching Show, “It’s in the Stars!”

DCI Finals Watch Party

After Hotdog Howdy, for those students interested, Mr. Seale and Mr. Dixon will be at Wellborn Middle School to host a watch party. The schedule is TBA but we expect it to start around 5:30pm until 9:00pm. As more details come out from DCI we will make a plan and let everyone know.

Cross Town Band Party

Both the Cougar Band and the Tiger Band will meet at CSHS for a Band Party on Saturday, August 17. There will be three giant inflatables for students to use including a giant water slide. This is going to be a great time to celebrate the start of school and the end of Summer Band.
