Hello all, summer band is rapidly approaching and Mr. Dixon, Mrs. Delgado and I are all really excited to see you again and get started! Please check over this newsletter carefully for the important information to know before you show back up to summer band. – Mr. Seale

Reminders

● Physicals need to be completed ASAP and brought to the band hall or scan and email to mdixon@csisd.org

● Pick up a water jug on your own. Preferably a school color of black, grey or purple. Need this by the 1st day of Summer Band. Visit this link for our recommended water jug.

● Time to get outside! Check out these tips from UIL to help you prepare for summer band. It is amazing how much even 20 minutes of walking outside a day will help you get ready.

Health Tips from UIL: Summer Band Reminders

○ Wear Sunscreen and a hat, it is Texas and the heat is on!

○ Drink water before, during and after

○ Eat well, don’t drink lots of dairy products before morning rehearsal.

 

Physicals for the 2019-2020 School Year

All students are required to have a physical exam done for each academic year if they are participating in Athletics or Band. Please have your physical exam completed before the start of Summer Band.

You will be able to turn in your physical exam form at summer band registration. A UIL form copy can be taken to your doctor for them to complete. Please click on this link for a printable UIL form copy. If you have already had one performed, please bring us the documentation to summer band registration or email to mdixon@csisd.org

 

Registration Night (July 25th OR 26th)

Here is what you can expect:

Students and Parents will be visiting various stations to pick-up shirts, try-on shoes, get measured for the band uniform, turn-in physical forms, get any supplies they might need from Thorn Music etc.

● There will be a form and checklist to help you complete the process.

● Mr. Seale, Mr. Dixon, and Boosters will be available if you have any questions for us.

● The last stop will be the pay station.

● The whole process should take about 45 Mins.

● We would like to ask that any 10th-12th graders wait until about 5:30 to begin registration if you can. This will allow us to work with the new students and parents in the beginning.

● You only need to come to one night. Come to whichever night works best for you.

 

New Student Orientation Mini Camp (July 25th AND 26th)

We will be hosting our new student minicamp at CSHS to help you all go over the basics of marching fundamentals and meet your new section leaders. We will be indoors in the gym. Please make sure to bring your instrument. Please come in by the Band hall and head towards the gym. This will be from 1 – 4PM both days.
