Updates & Announcements

Big Week this week! I know I say this often….but really it is 🙂

A) Madisonville USBands Results! The Cougar Band received an overall Score of 86.25 on Saturday! That put us in 1st place for our Classification (Group IV), we were also 1st in every Caption (Individual Music, Ensemble Music, Visual, Overall Effect, Colorguard, and Percussion). Finally, we were also the highest scoring Band of the day! Today was payday for all of your hard work so far. At the same time we all know what we would like to improve upon as we push forward and get ready for Blinn.

Special word of Thanks to all of the Boosters and Staff Involved in taking care of all of our kids at the Contest! This is an amazing group to be a part of.

B) Study Hall this week on Tuesday. Since we’ve had a Saturday Contest this week and an upcoming Monday night rehearsal, we are going to give you a Study Hall in Class this week on Tuesday!! (Rejoice!)

C) Friday Home Game this week! FB Game vs Waller. Game Itinerary coming.

D) Blinn Marching Festival this Saturday (10/5) in Brenham. This is an afternoon and Evening Contest. You should have a Free Morning until close to Noon . Blinn Marching Festival Itinerary coming

E) We are in Contest Mode now. Most weeks will include our rehearsals, plus a Friday game, plus a Saturday Contest with a few exceptions. Ineligible students can not come to rehearsals, games or contests with us until you regain eligibility according to UIL Rules. If you are ineligible, we may be forced to permanently replace your position in the Varsity Marching Band because of the UIL Rules. We will be in contact with you if this affects you.

Special Note about Hydration – (We experienced first hand how important your hydration was in the heat on Saturday. Please keep it up!) It is so important to us that you are proactively doing what you can to stay healthy to be able to fully participate as a Member of our Marching Band.

Here’s a note from Mrs. Frashure, the Head Athletic Trainer for CSHS.

“The biggest thing for your kids, just as it is for athletes, is that hydration comes in the three days leading up to a performance. If they come into the day in a deficit, they will not be able to drink enough water the day of to offset what they will lose during practice, competition, etc.”

– Mr. Seale

Procedure for Absences

Students who need to miss a rehearsal need to click on this link and fill out the information, this will help us keep track of the students. Once the form is filled out, it will be put on a calendar the directors can view. There are so many students it is hard to keep track of them all, this will help us a great deal. Please click here to add an absence for the marching season.
