Monday Evening Rehearsal/Video Performance at 6:30
We will be reviewing the show and making some videos of the show with Drone Camera Flyovers and GoPro Cameras. Should be a very fun Evening! Bring a GoPro if you have one. For real this time! Unless Weather prohibits the event. Currently the Forecast is in the 50’s and dropping for that time of day.
Leadership Team Meeting to rehearse Christmas Carols – Wednesday at 7:30AM
All are welcome to attend and rehearse – Leadership is required.
Dec 4th is a School Pep Rally during the day at School (3PM) and then our Home Game at 7PM. Call time 5:45 again. We will Perform our Show at Halftime for the Last Time. Beatlemania Show Shirt and Black Band Pants/Shorts and Black Shoes for this one.
Region Band Auditions this year
I have currently entered the following groups of students: All of the Wind Ensemble, anyone that is getting Honors Credit for Band, and anyone that is Virtual Band only. If you are not in one of those groups, but still would like to Audition for Region Band and hopefully eventually Area/All State, then please fill out this Form by this Tuesday. Here is the list of who I have already entered (Region Entry). Here is the Timeline for Region Auditions this year:
Entries Finalized by Dec 4th. Auditioners can upload submissions from Dec 5th to the 9th in Music First (Mr. Dixon and I will help you with this step). Judging will take place from the 12th to the 16th. Results Posted soon after this right before the Christmas Break.
Band Holiday Concert Plans
According to the current COVID regulations put on the performing arts, as of right now, we can not perform a concert indoors with much of an audience. While we do certainly have some live streaming options, it is always much more preferred to play live for an audience whenever possible. We have reserved Thursday, December 10th on the Calendar to put on an outdoor concert on the covered Patio between the Fine Arts hallway and the Art classrooms. Audience members will be able to bring chairs and blankets and spread out on the grass lawn. If the weather doesn’t work for us (it is December in Texas), then we will likely move the concert to Virtual on Friday, back indoors during the class time and Livestream the performances.
Band at Playoff Games
Unfortunately, I don’t have much information to share about our level of Participation in Playoff Games yet, but I expect to hear something from the District very soon. Whatever our Participation looks like, from a Pep Band to something more, will all need to continue to be flexible and communicate well. Our last home game is this Friday, so the Playoffs should begin the following week. The Location and Date of the next game will always be relayed to us by our Coaches. We will have to do sign up forms for each individual game.
With all that said, we do expect the first playoff game on December 11 or 12 to be a HOME playoff game. We will treat this as a typical home game with the exception of halftime and we will perform an alternate show of stand tunes.
