Be a Band Booster

How? Step 1. Be the parent or guardian of a student in the Cougar Band and Guard.

Done. You’re a Band Booster! Welcome to the Family!

Now that you’re a member, we hope you’ll join us for monthly meetings. They take place on the second Tuesday of each month (except June, July, and August) at 7 pm in the Band Hall. These low-key meetings allow you to meet other parents, hear important updates from our directors, and learn about ways you can be involved. The Band Boosters help our program to thrive and compete at the highest levels, plus they have a lot of fun supporting great students and directors.

Be part of something great!

Who are we?

We are parents of students who are members of the College Station High School Cougar Band and Guard. If your child is in band and/or guard at College Station High School, you are a member! We do not charge dues because we believe every student and parent should want to support their band program!

What groups do we assist?

We help out the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Percussion, Color Guard, and any other student group that is a part of the College Station High School Band and Guard.

What do we do as Boosters?

We work as a team to provide things the band needs that are not provided by the annual school budget. We provide manpower to get the band to and from competitions, on and off the field. We help chaperone band events and field trips. We raise money to pay for clinicians, coaches, uniform maintenance, competition registration fees, travel expenses, sheet music, and to repair and replace equipment and instruments.

When do we meet?

The Band Boosters meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month (September – May) at 7:00pm in the CSHS Band Hall. All band parents and students are encouraged to attend the meetings. We don’t have a formal meeting during June and July. At these meetings, you will find out about the band and guard program and learn about upcoming events, fundraisers, and band functions. You can also have a voice in the decision-making process.

How do we communicate?

Besides our monthly meetings, we have an email list that you can subscribe to. We also post information on our website: cshsbandandguard.com, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Additionally, we use the CHARMS system to generate email contacts.

What about fundraising and how does that help me?

We offer many fundraising opportunities to help support our band program. Our main fundraiser is our March-a-Thon that begins during summer band. We also host a Spirit Shop, and participate in the Amazon Smile program. Fundraisers help provide monies for events, trips, student scholarships, music lessons and clinics, and to help students cover costs associated with band participation. We also use fundraisers to help with costs to repair and replace our band equipment not covered by the school budget. The more the boosters make for the band, the less we have to require of each student when we don’t have enough to cover all expenses. Fundraising is a group effort as a band family, and funding information will be updated monthly as monetary goals are met for the items and trips the band is working towards.

How can you help us?

Attend our monthly meetings, attend as many of your child’s band activities as possible, participate in band fundraising events and activities and put your talents and skills to use for the band.
