Learn about Volunteer Opportunities
There are countless ways for you to support the students and staff of the Cougar Band & Guard. Volunteering with us allows you to get to know our band family and make some great friends.
Please SCROLL THROUGH the information provided below by our committee chairs, and complete the volunteer forms if you can help.
Chaperone Committee
Our Cougar Band & Guard chaperones are trained to take care of our students and keep things running smoothly at home games, away games, marching contests, and other events. If you’re interested in volunteering as a chaperone, take a look at our guidelines.

Props Crew Committee
It’s no secret that our Props Crew volunteers have the most fun.
Our Props Crew volunteers are in charge of our marching show props. They handle everything from designing and building the props to hauling them to games and contests to getting them on and off the field. The props crew needs lots of volunteers, and it’s a great place to meet other parents and get to know the directors and students. There’s a place on this crew for everyone–those with specialized skills and equipment AND those who just want to pitch in and help any way they can. We guarantee you’ll have a blast!

Uniform Committee
Our Uniform committee is vitally important to the band. These volunteers measure each student for uniforms, assign and fit students, make alterations and repairs, keep the uniform room organized, and help students with uniform issues that arise. They do the same during concert season when tuxedos and concert dresses are fitted and assigned. These committee members have a lot of fun together, and they get to know each student well.

Events Committee
Our Event Planning committee plans our annual events like Hot Dog Howdy and Drums Along the Brazos. They also play an important role in two major TCGC events that take place each year in College Station. They handle all the details that make us look great, and their dedication has resulted in our program’s reputation as a hospitable group. This committee allows you to be flexible with your volunteer time!

Procurement and Food Committee
Our Procurement/Food Committee purchases all the meals and snacks to feed our band, guard, staff, and volunteers at games, events, and contests. They deliver the food, set it up, and distribute it. They are definitely the most loved by our hungry students! This is a great way to get involved for one event or a whole year of events!
Chair, Jennifer Byroad
Co-Chair, Jennifer Ford
Spirit Shop Committee
The Spirit Shop committee is in charge of planning our annual spirit gear and apparel offerings. This includes brainstorming new products and concepts, working with vendors and designers, and setting pricing and options. This committee also works on projects throughout the year, such as the Drums Along the Brazos contest shirt, winterguard shirts, and other special offerings.
This is a fun committee that gets to make sure we all look great as we represent the Cougar Band and Guard!

Fundraising Committee
Our fundraising committee is in charge of of our annual March-a-Thon fundraiser. This includes setting up the online site and making sure each student is able to participate effectively. The committee also works with our Events committee to plan events like Hot Dog Howdy, Drums Along the Brazos, and the CSHS involvement in TCGC events.
This committee also identifies and builds relationships with corporate sponsors. This includes planning the logo inclusion on our semi-trailer, shirts, and banners. This committee also verifies that our corporate sponsors have received the benefits that match their sponsorship level, and delivers gifts to them.
The fundraising committee plays an important role in our success each year, and it’s a rewarding way to volunteer!
